Holly began working with neurographic art in early 2024. She discovered several influences:

Antje Howard, Neurographica™ Basics. https://neuroartproject.net/
Anna Denning, Neurographica™ Specialist Course. https://www.youtube.com/@NeurographicArt
Sara Wener, continuing studies in Neurographica™ and supporting methods.https://www.sarawener.com/

After working with these teachers, and meditating on how Neurographica might integrate with her work, Holly found her own path which she coined NeuroEnergyArt. In neurographic art, each step represents something significant. When these step are followed, our brains release old patterns due to neuroplasticity. Think of it as a gentle rewiring. It is the a profound method for healing mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical issues. Couple this with Holly’s ability to hone in on energetic causes and the results are remarkable.

Pencils
HB is the common #2 pencil. If you are drawing on card stock, or watercolor paper, B is best. If you use a light hand, you can draw a visible line that erases easily without denting the paper. H pencils tend to leave indents. However, ANY pencil works.

Erasers
Do-buy a new one. Don’t-grab a ten year old eraser and expect it to leave your paper spotless.

Black Markers
If you’re grabbing what you have handy, find three widths and that will be fine. Please note: Sharpies are not always waterproof. Test your markers to see if they smear. I adore Staedtler. I own many Micros/Sakura. I have Pilots, Sharpies, etc. Try a few and see what works for you. If I had to only take three sizes on a deserted island: .005, .5, and 1.2 (I would hide a brush pen in my hair.)

Colored Markers
I use Ohuhu Alcohol Brush Markers, Honolulu 48, they are budget friendly, with lots of additional art markers. Can you use water-based markers? Yes; you can use anything you want. Highlighters from your desk. Crayola from your kid’s stash. This game doesn’t change if you don’t buy new supplies. But if you do, buy alcohol. There’s a huge difference in flow and coverage. If you’re working from your personal stash, check to see if the markers bleed. You can easily draw around your black lines if there is an issue.

Colored Pencils
Like markers, I have an assortment of artist’s brands. But I find myself grabbing this Staedtler Triangular Barrel set most often. They layer well and the 72 set gives me enough choices.

Brush Marker
Brush markers are handy to have for Field Lines. I have two smaller ones from Tombow: https://amzn.to/3AOhkDt.
A beautiful Faber-Castell recommended by https://www.sarawener.com/ which is here: https://amzn.to/3OafXSR, and the one that came with my Staedtler set (above).

Why not paint?
It won’t dry fast enough. We are working with energy and the end result it movement and/or healing. Watercolor is lovely, but you will be focused on the paint instead of freeing your brain for change.

Paper
Marker paper is non-porous, so your medium won’t be absorbed and/or spread. Watercolor paper will drain your markers. Both are expensive if you get addicted to drawing, like me. I have found that card stock is perfect. https://amzn.to/40MzbFA.  If you want a sketchbook, try Rendr Sketchbook by Crescent. They aren’t always in stock, but they are dreamy. Nothing goes through. It’s miracle paper and worth every cent.

Frames
Do your energy/therapy/play art pieces need frames? YES. They certainly do. These frames are low profile, lightweight, plastic frames that are so cheap I bought a ga-zillion. Or fifteen, I can’t remember. ; ) I wanted to hang six in my studio and love that they can be held with a tack and changed easily. https://amzn.to/3CseIM7.  Alternatively, here’s a nicer frame for your next masterpiece. https://amzn.to/4hO6LkM

Compass
Do you have a lid/glass/coaster/water bottle? Circles are everywhere. I love to push against my perfectionism and hand draw circles, except for those times when I don’t. Then, it needs to be precise, so I do use a compass. I like a “ball-bearing” compass, so I can spin it from the top and close it easily. They are available everywhere.

Hand Sanitizer
If you have an alcohol-based marker that is dry, dip it into hand sanitizer then cap it and wait until the next day. It should work.

Storage
I am a lover of all organization, and this cutie gets more attention than a real kitten. You will see mine in my videos, go watch them right meow. https://www.youtube.com/@hollyburger
